Tension! Gunmen abduct Chief Accountant from Ondo state
Gunmen who were said to be suspected kidnappers abducted the Chief Accountant of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owo, Ondo state, Mr Kayode Asaju
The ugly incident occurred in the evening of Sunday, June 26
Asaju was kidnapped when he was travelling out of Ondo state over the weekend.
Tribune learnt that the Chief Accountant, who was travelling to Abuja for a meeting scheduled to hold in the morning of Monday, June 27, was kidnapped along Lokoja/Abuja Expressway on Sunday, June 26.
The gun wielding men, who were said to be at least five in number, were reported to have stopped Asaju around Lokoja, the capital of Kogi and immediately took him away into the bush.
According to a source, the suspected kidnappers have reached the family of Asaju, whose wife is also a nurse, works at FMC. They are requesting for a total of five million naira as ransom to make the freedom of the Chief Accountant possible.
Ondo state police public relations officer (PPRO), Mr Femi Joseph, while speaking about the incident confirmed it happened.
The PPRO said the sad incident happened outside the jurisdiction of the Ondo state police command. Joseph, however, gave words of assurance that the police command would work with the Kogi State police command to make sure Asaju was rescued unhurt and returned alive to his family.
About a week ago in Delta state, the traditional ruler of Gbaramatu kingdom narrowly escaped being kidnapped on his way to the palace with his wife.
