 Lionel Messi throws his weight behind Atletico Madrid ahead of the Champions League final

 The Argentine captain says Barcelona are still focused on winning La Liga and Copa Del Rey titles

Barcelona star, Lionel Messi has said that he would prefer Atletico Madrid to win the Champion League when they play Real Madrid in the final.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN, the Argentine captain said that the people of Barcelona wants the Roji Blancos to lift the trophy despite knocking them out of the Champions League semi final.

“For the people of Barcelona, it would be a pleasure to see Atletico win the Champions League. In Barcelona, supporters would prefer to see Real win nothing,” he said.

The current world footballer of the year also said that his team are focused on winning the league and cup double as they are in the most crucial time of the season where anything can happen.

“We have two finals now, one in the league and one in the cup. A league title is very difficult to win, so you have to win it and then reflect on the achievement and savour it. It would be great to end the year with two titles,” he said.

The Catalan giant will be playing their last league game away to Granada and the Copa Del Rey final against Sevilla as wins in both matches earns them the league and cup titles.
