Jealous lioness shows her male partner who's the boss

The lion may well be considered the king of the jungle. But behind every successful man, there is a great woman. And the jealous lioness proves this!

The hilarious pics were captured by 61-year-old Leon Botha, who was on holiday with friends and family in Botswana.

In the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, the man observed from a safe distance as the lioness wandered ahead of her partner and began gulping down water. At this moment, a second lioness proceeded to walk over to the male.

Angry by the advances of this rival female, the lioness ran towards the two.

The lion expected a fight between the two females. So he quickly ran into the path of the lioness to intercept her progress.

However, the lioness was not heading towards the female and instead mounted an attack on her other half

The enraged lioness began swatting at the lion with her large paw.

She tackled her partner and eventually caused him to fall over onto his side.
