Panic as gunmen attack police station, kill one officer

Gunmen have attacked a police station in Dengi, Kanam local government area of Plateau State, carting away several rifles.

The attack which took place Sunday night, January 23, left an officer dead, others injured.

According to Premium Times, a police source on Monday, January 23 that the commissioner of police, Peter Ogunyanwo, left Jos, to the scene to ascertain the level of damage.

Dengi is in central Plateau, about 150 kilometres away from the state capital, Jos.

A similar incident occurred about three months ago in Ado local government area of Benue state, when a police station was robbed of some guns by gunmen who invaded it on Sunday, October 2.

The gunmen stormed Igumale Police Station in Ado local government area of the state killing three officers and leaving another in critical condition.
