The unfortunate attacks on Benue villagers by Fulani herdsmen seems to have no end in sight

Yesterday, June 21 eight people in two local government areas of Logo and Ukum in Benue state were killed

This is the second attack within the past three days as six people were killed in the area on Saturday, June 18

Suspected Fulani herdsmen yesterday, June 21 stormed Logo and Ukum local government areas of Benue state killing 8 people. 

According to Daily Trust, this is the second attack within the past three days as six people were reportedly killed in the area on Saturday,

Confirming the incident, the Benue state command Police spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu said that four people were killed in Vaase community of Ukum while three corpses were recovered in Anyiin and one in Uzer villages respectively of Logo.

He said the attack was carried out simultaneously at 2am on Tuesday, June 21 by the suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Some of the locals in the area stated that alleged the death toll had reached 16, but the police could not confirm the figure at the time of this report.

The former governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam has been blamed  for the fresh crisis rocking the state between farmers and Fulani herdsmen.

According to the state coordinator of Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Garus Gololo, Suswam failed to settle the herdsmen.

In a related development, the member representing the local governments attacked at theBenue state House of Assembly, Terna-Kester Kyenge said villagers in the affected communities as well as neighbouring ones were deserting their homes for fear of further attacks by the herdsmen.
