On Tuesday, March 7, veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie turns 69-years. The actor who knows how to interpret any role given to him can be described as one of Africa’s most talented actors by judging from his movies and awards.

Pete Edochie came into prominence in in the 1980’s for his role as Okonkwo in the NTA’s adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s best-selling novel, Things Fall Apart. In 1967, the Nollywood veteran got into radio broadcasting as a junior programmes assistant after which he was elevated to the level of a director.
When he was supposed to be the immediate successor to the MD, Pete Edochie resigned because the government decided to polities the affairs of their FM station, thereby resulting in the entire management being asked to move out and joined the movie industry.
The award winning actor in 2005, alongside RMD, Genevieve, Omotola, Stella Damasus, Nkem Owoh and others were banned by the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), because there were reported to have been collecting huge fees from producers due to their A-list celebrity status.

On August 16, 2009, Pete Edochie was kidnapped on his way to an event in Anambra State. He was kidnapped at Nkpor and was released on August 17, 2009.
In celebrating his father, Pete Edochie’s son and Nollywood actor Yul Edochie took to bhis Instagram page posting a picture of his father with the caption: “happy birthday Dad!!! Wish you many more years. May God continue to keep you for us. Great man
