Odo Aladura, a section of Ladipo market in Lagos has been demolished by men suspected to be thugs.
The market, largely dominated by Igbo traders who sell spare parts and electronics has been at the centre of conflict in recent weeks as traders protested alleged extortion by the Lagos government.
Pm News reports that the Odo Aladura section of the market was destroyed during the night and when traders got to the market on March 8, they met it reduced the rubble .
It was reported that there has been initial attempts by thugs to demolish the market but traders were able to prevent that from happening.
The recent attempt was however successful as the traders were left dumbfounded when they saw the extent of the damage. Goods worth millions of Naira were destroyed in the attack.
It is however not known if the destruction of the market is connected to an attack that occurred a few weeks ago between the trader and on Monday Ijoba and his boys after a trader was attacked by the latter. The traders, in retaliation had staged a protest vowing that Monday, who was employed by the local government to collect dues, vowed that he would not be allowed into the market. It took the intervention of security operatives to put an end to the melee.
