JOHN OBI MIKEL THREATENS TO LEAVE CHELSEA
Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel has given an ultimatum to his club Chelsea, saying: “I’d rather walk than spend next season on the bench.” Could this be the end to Mikel’s long spell at Chelsea
?
The veteran Nigerian midfielder has been at the London club for almost 10 years having brought in by Jose Mourinho with so much promise. John Mikel however failed to live up to much of that promise as he was regularly sidelined and gradually fell down the perking order. Now, it seems he is tired of being dubbed as one of the ‘fringe’ players at Chelsea
“I have one more season with Chelsea but I know when this season ends, we will definitely sit down and try to sort out whatever needs to be sorted out,” says the Nigerian captain.
“If it means me leaving, fine. If it means me staying, then I have to play because one thing I don’t want to do is to sit on the bench like I did before,” he added.
Mikel currently has one year left on his Chelsea contract which means Chelsea might be willing t do business in order to get a fee out of the Nigerian.
