– Three people were killed after a bloody cultist battle in Bayelsa state
 – All three victims are believed to have been students of Niger Delta University
 – The shocking incident is the latest in a serious of cultist clashes around the university

Three persons have been confirmed dead following another cult battle in the Bayelsa state owned university, Niger Delta University, located in Ammassoma in the Southern Ijaw area of the state.
The three persons who were confirmed dead on Tuesday and Wednesday are believed to be students of university’s English and engineering departments.
The bloody brawl occurred outside the campus of the institution leaving the university’s students terrified.
While one of the deceased students was identified as a unnamed level 400 engineering student, the other two have still not been named or identified by their course.
Niger Delta University was shut down in February after violent protests
The unidentified engineering student was butchered with a machete, leaving his left arm severed.
Two other victims were discovered in the community river behind the school in a pool of their own blood.
According to eyewitness reports, their bodies were barely recognizable when they were found.
Though many of the students have refused to speak about the battle, some confirmed to reporters that were killed due to cult group rivalry.
Police representative Asimin Butswat confirmed the incident, adding that he was waiting for more information from state police command.
Niger Delta University spokesman Mr Demo Alagoa said he was not able to speak on the issue and could not confirm the identity of the deceased students.
Meanwhile, a coalition of Human rights Advocacy groups made up of the Zonal Human Rights Initiative (ZUHURAi) and the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) have expressed concern over the recent cases of violence at the university.
Aside from the cultist battle, the human rights activists cited the failed attempt to bomb and rob a bank.
