Frozen $31.4m: Jonathan's kinsmen angry with patience

Some kinsmen of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan are reportedly displeased with former First Lady Patience Jonathan, over allegations of money laundering strongly linked to her.
They have asked her come out and clear herself of allegations against her, Leadership reports.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was said to have traced $15million to four company accounts linked to the ex-first lady, in the ongoing trial of a former Presidential Aide, Waripamo Dudafa.
Patience later admitted that the accounts with billions of naira reportedly frozen by the anti-graft agency belonged to her.
According to the report, some of the kinsmen expressed surprise at Patience’s audacity to claim that the money found in the accounts belonged to her.
The kinsmen are wondering what Patience did to have earned so huge among of money, asking her to justify the source of her earnings and business.
Some friends and political associates of the former president were said to have shown their excitement at the latest revelations.
The claimed that the overbearing tendencies of the ex-first lady led to the loss of goodwill by Jonathan from a lot of his followers during his tenure of office.
A foremost traditional ruler in Bayelsa state, who is known to be a close associate of the former president, was said to have asked for the rationale behind Patience rushing to the court when she hasn’t been invited nor questioned by EFCC. He urged the EFCC to further investigate other illicit transactions that the former first lady must have involved herself in.
The kinsmen pledged their continued support for the anti-corruption war waged by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
According to them, it was in the interest of the nation.‎
Patience started making headlines following reports that the EFCC started investigations into a money laundering case linked to her. She raised an alarm that her $31.4 million was being tied down by the commission. She sued Skye Bank for freezing her bank accounts and giving the EFCC vital information about her finances. She also asked the court to declare that the monies found in the accounts belong to her.
