Senator lashes out over Buhari's impeachment

Senator Isa Misau
Senator Isa Misau representing Bauchi Central senatorial district has lamented over the rumoured impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He made his in intentions known on the matter on the floor of the Senate after raising a point of order.

He said he was disappointed that senators will leave an executive session and mislead the public. Misau added that even the media are not allowed when executive sessions are taking place.
“Yesterday we were in an executive meeting and we want to inform Nigerians that executive meetings are only meant for senators.
“We don’t even allow our aides or the media to be part of the executive session.
“For this information to come out from the executive session, it is unfortunate that senators will go out after a session to mislead the public of something that was never discussed here.
“Unfortunately, some of the senators are here. If there is anytime where somebody threatened to impeach Buhari. I was not even given the privilege to talk in the session.
“Even the chairman Senate committee on foreign affairs was not even there and some people went out to mislead the public.
“Even Sahara reporters said him, Peter Nwaboshi and Danjuma Goje, Barau were supporting someone to insult another person.”
President Muhammadu Buhari was reported to have been threatened with impeachment by Nigerian senators.
This happened during the plenary session on Tuesday, July 12, with the senators making their threats about the president known over the Senate forgery allegations scandal.
However, some senators were said to have called on their colleagues, led by Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi representing Kaduna North senatorial district and Kabir Marafa representing Zamfara Central senatorial district to withdraw the petition that had led to the prosecution of Senate leadership.
Melaye was said to have called on his colleagues to fight the presidency and also reportedly issued threats during the rowdy session.
When Senator Tinubu was asked to speak, she said the Senate should not be reduced to a kindergarten where senators could just issue childish threats.
Reports say after she had appealed to senators to close ranks and seek reconciliation, Melaye got really mad and started calling the former governor’s wife names which caused commotion on the floor as senators guarded Tinubu.
