Why we won't stop blaming PDP - APC

– The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said it would not stop bashing the PDP for the woes afflicting Nigeria
– The party accused PDP of squandering the nation’s wealth during its 16-year rule without planning for the future
– Osita Okechukwu, the spokesman of the APC south east caucus said Nigerians should watch out for the implementation of the 2016 budget
The South East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it would continue to blame the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nigeria’s economic problems.
Osita Ikechukwu said APC will continue to blame PDP
Osita Okechukwu, the spokesman of the south east caucus said the of the APC will continue to bash the former ruling party for failing to transform the country despite huge oil revenues it received during its 16-year rule, Daily Trust reports.
In all honesty, how can the APC or President Muhammadu Buhari stop bashing the unconscionable PDP-led federal government of the last 16 years that dislocated our economy? As Buhari said, the PDP squandered our rainy-day commonwealth which accrued in bounty seasons of crude oil sales. It’s hard fact and fact is sacred,” he said.
Okechukwu was reacting to a statement by the national chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, where he advised the ruling party and the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to stop blaming the opposition party for its failure to arrest the economic crisis that is presently crippling the nation.
He described Sheriff’s statement as “sheer bunkum meant to cover the deep wound inflicted on the soul of Nigerians.”
We regard the statement credited to the National Chairman of the PDP Sheriff to the effect that our great party, the APC, and by extension President Buhari should stop bashing the PDP)for the severe socio-economic hardship ravaging the country as theatre of the absurd of Nollywood fame,” he said.
The APC asked how Nigerians could forget the misdeeds of the PDP, such as the $23 billion Greenfield refineries awarded to the Chinese in 2010, which was dead on arrival and the Lagos-Abeokuta, Lagos-Ibadan, Lagos-Benin, Kano-Maiduguri, Maiduguri-Yola, Enugu-Onitsha, Enugu-Port Harcourt, East-West and other federal roads abandoned by the PDP federal government.
How can we forget the 1,310 kilometer old gauge Kano-Lagos rail; the $8.3 billion contract awarded to the Chinese, when almost at the same time the Chinese awarded 4000 kilometer modern gauge Lhasa-Beijing at $4.2 billion? This could have tremendously improved North-South transportation.
“How can we forget the $16 billion that PDP squandered on power projects? PDP has kept us in the dark. Had the PDP utilised the billions of dollars, which accrued to the national treasury in the last 16 years, our critical infrastructure will not be comatose?” Okechukwu queried.
The party asked those in doubt of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ability to fix the rot left by PDP to watch out for the implementation of the 2016 budget.
The ruling APC and opposition PDP have been trading blame over the current state of the economy.
The national leader of the ruling party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu blamed the opposition for the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country. He said Nigerians should hold the PDP responsible for destroying the country during its 16-year rule.
The APC also accused the PDP of trying to tarnish the image of Tinubu, for calling for the reopening of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) case against him.
