Stop harassing Fayose, others – PDP youths tell Buhari
– Youths under the aegis of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national youth frontier have accused President Buhari of trying to silence the opposition in Ekiti, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states
– The group urges the president to realize that he is a beneficiary of democracy and bound to protect the rights of fellow citizens as stated in the constitution
– Call on Buhari to address more pressing issues that affect ordinary Nigerians
Youths under the aegis of the Peoples Democratic Party National Youth Frontier (PDPNYF) have cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against using security agents to intimidate Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state and other members of the opposition who do not share sympathy in the “change” mantra.
The youths in a statement issued in Abuja accused President Buhari of trying to silence the opposition Ekiti, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states, Vanguard reports.
The national coordinator of the PDPNYF, Okai Austin called on the president to realize that he is a beneficiary of democracy, noting that such should prompt him protect the rights of fellow citizens as mandated by the constitution.
He said:“What is happening in Ekiti State is alien in every ideal democratic setting. As I speak, some members of the legislature in Ekiti State have taken to hiding for fear of being assassinated by the DSS. Nigerians saw the kind of brutal force the APC utilized during the Bayelsa and Rivers States elections wherein Nigerians were brutally killed under unclear circumstances. As at now, no one has being brought to book.
“We are aware party men like Ayo Fayose, Deji Adeyanju and some other loyalists are on the watch list of the DSS. Nothing must happen to them because we are aware of how intolerant this government is and the extent it can go to cover up its failures and excesses.”
He accused the APC led administration of using the DSS as the militia wing of the party, adding that the agency now feels the “only persons capable of causing breakdown of order are members of the PDP, therefore no other group deserves to be monitored including Fulani herdsmen and the Boko Haram terrorist group”.
Austin called on President Buhari to address more pressing issues that affect the ordinary Nigerians like fuel scarcity, unemployment, inflation, insecurity and access to power, rather than ruling the country from the air chasing PDP members.
In another development, the Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Lagos for calling for the reopening of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) case against Bola Tinubu.
The party in a release signed by the Lagos state publicity secretary of the APC, Joe Igbokwe described the call for the reopening of the case against Tinubu by the PDP as mere silly rants of frustrated losers.
