Fraud:Dead workers still receiving salaries in Lagos

 The office of the auditor-general for local governments in Lagos discovered that dead workers are still receiving salaries

 The sum of N25 million was recovered from illegal salaries paid to retired ghost workers and deceased officers between January and March, 2016

This is shocking but true, as dead workers are still receiving salaries in local governments in Lagos state.

For a very long time, dead workers and ghost workers were being paid salaries illegally at the LGs until the office of the auditor-general for local governments unraveled this big fraud going on at the grassroots.

Between January and March, 2016, the sum of N25 million was recovered from illegal salaries paid to retired ghost workers and deceased officers of various LGs and local government education authorities after their terminal dates.

The office reports that in January, N4.6 million was recovered and in February, N3.6 million was recovered from ghost workers and deceased staff.

The moneyr was being paid illegally by local government staff in a monumental fraud at the council level.

Also, N16.96 million that would have been paid to the ghost workers and deceased staff were recovered by the office of the auditor-general of local governments.
