Five killed in Burundi market attack
Burundi has been hit by unrest since the president’s decision to run for a third term
The attack by unidentified insurgents took place in Burundi’s eastern Ruyigi region, close to the border with Tanzania, local government district head Aloys Ngenzirabona said Tuesday.
“Thee criminals fired into the crowd before fleeing, they left a total of five dead and seven wounded,” he said.
Hundreds have been killed and over 250,000 people have fled Burundi since President Pierre Nkurunziza’s controversial decision last April to run for a third term.
